NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
June 8, 2015
That makes two games down in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Finals so far, and the action has been as fierce as advertised. While we’re waiting on Game 3 tonight over at United Center, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there right now.
The Blackhawks could have another important piece of their lineup back on the ice tonight in Game 3. Left winger Bryan Bickell is reportedly healthy and has a shot at suiting up for tonight’s matchup at the UC.
There’s not much information out there regarding the specific nature of Bickell’s ailment, but speculation leads many to think he’s dealing with a concussion. He hasn’t played in any Stanley Cup Finals games yet, but if he’s on the ice for the morning skate, there’s a good shot he’ll get in there once again.

On the other side, the Lightning have an important piece dealing with injury today in Ben Bishop. He’s got a knee issue and will be a game-time decision in all likelihood.
If Bishop participates in the morning skate, it’ll bode well for his availability, but won’t tell the story completely. If he can’t go, Andrei Vasilevskiy will start.
The Avalanche will likely be moving on from defenseman Ryan Wilson this off-season, according to sources close to the team.
Wilson isn’t expected to re-sign with the Avs, so he’ll probably end up hitting the open market. What his value will be following an injury-plagued season that saw him sitting out all but three games this past year remains to be seen, however.
In related news, the Avalanche are also expected to let unrestricted free agent defenseman Jan Hejda go this off-season as well.
Hejda posted 13 points with a minus-12 rating in his 81 appearances this season. If he goes, expect the Avs to be major players in free agency and the draft when it comes to filling out their defensive depth issues.
