NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
October 8, 2015
The NHL season is officially off and running, and we’ve got even more on-ice action coming this evening as more teams get their seasons started. Before we settle in, let’s check out some of the notable names in the NHL news.
Carey Price, C, Montreal Canadiens: Price started out the year well against the Maple Leafs in Toronto, helping his team to a 3-1 victory at Air Canada Centre.
Max Pacioretty logged two scores, while Price managed 36 saves on 37 shots. It was a pretty encouraging first game for the Canadiens, however they were outshot 37-30 and weren’t great in the possession battle.

Kevin Klein, D, New York Rangers: Over at United Center, the Rangers got the better of the defending champion Blackhawks last night with a 3-2 victory. Klein logged a score, as did Oscar Lindberg and Derek Stepan.
The Rangers posted all three of their goals in the first period, but were able to hang on and win the game. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist posted 32 saves.
Daniel Sedin, LW, Vancouver Canucks: Sedin posted seven shots on goal last night, helping his Canucks to a win over the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome. He’d finish with a goal and two assists in the 5-1 victory, while Brandon Sutter would help out on a goal and an assist of his own.
Joe Pavelski, C, San Jose Sharks: In another 5-1 outcome last night, Pavelski managed a goal and two assists while the Sharks cruised against the Kings in their home opener. Joe Thornton and Brent Burns each put up a goal and an assist, while Martin Jones tallied 19 saves. It was a good effort for San Jose overall, as the team really doesn’t have much to complain about in this one.
