We’re officially two days into the 2015-16 NHL season, and we’ve got lots more action coming up over the next few days. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in our daily wrap-up.

Drew Stafford, RW, Winnipeg Jets: The Jets get to start the season out with a four-game road trip, but they got things going the right way last night in Boston.
Stafford posted a goal and an assist on four shots, and goalie Ondrej Pavelec came up with 29 saves in a 6-2 victory at TD Garden. Six Winnipeg players scored in this one, and 12 had at least one point. They’d post three goals in the second and three in the third period to come back and win.

NHL News: Player News and Updates for 10/9/15

Robby Fabbri, C, St. Louis Blues: Last night marked the debut of Connor McDavid, but it would be Fabbri who would get the nice-looking stat sheet. He posted his first NHL goal here, a game-winner in a 3-1 victory for the Blues at Scottrade Center.
Brian Elliott would anchor the defense on 23 saves.
McDavid would end up with 18:07 of ice time and two shots on goal.

Antti Niemi, G, Dallas Stars: Niemi was great against the Penguins last night at American Airlines Center. He bagged 37 saves and a pair of assists in a 3-0 shutout win.
Ales Hemsky (who also had an assist), Mattias Janmark and Jamie Benn had the three Dallas goals.
The difference here was the power play: Dallas went 2-of-5; the Pens whiffed on three tries.

Zach Parise, LW, Minnesota Wild: This was a great game if you like offensive hockey or comebacks (or are a Wild fan). Parise capped off a hat trick in the third period, finishing off a four-goal run that brought the Wild back from the brink and helped them edge out the Avs 5-4 at Pepsi Center. It was a stunning defeat for Denver, who completely lost control of the game.
Parise joins Marc Chouinard in the distinction of being the only Minnesota players to manage a season-opening hat trick.
