NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
October 14, 2015
We’re coming off a pretty busy night in the NHL, and the league will ease up a bit this evening with just four games on the schedule. While we’re waiting on those, let’s check out our daily headlines and see who’s making news out there.
Pekka Rinne, G, Nashville Predators: The scoring in last night’s Predators-Devils game was a little unusual. Preds defenseman Roman Josi logged two goals in the 3-1 victory, one coming on the power play and one shorthanded late in the third.
Rinne would log 22 saves on 23 shots in the victory, helping to keep Nashville unbeaten. In all, there were two power-play goals and two empty-netters, with one of those coming shorthanded.

Michael Hutchinson, G, Winnipeg Jets: The Jets defense was on point last night at the Garden against the Rangers, and Hutchinson was a busy guy with 40 saves on 41 shots in his team’s 4-1 victory.
Bryan Little scored twice for the Jets, who were outshot pretty badly and gave up five power plays in the second period. New York couldn’t turn any of that opportunity into goals, however.
Martin Jones, G, San Jose Sharks: With no Alex Ovechkin (he missed the game due to personal reasons), the Sharks were able to handle the Capitals pretty easily. Jones made 31 saves in the 5-0 shutout victory and hasn’t allowed a goal since the first shot of the season opener back on October 7.
The Capitals were also missing Nicklas Backstrom at center. He’s going to be out a couple more games as he gets over his hip surgery.
Colton Parayko, D, St. Louis Blues: In one of the closer games on last night’s set, Parayko scored his first two NHL goals in a 4-3 victory over the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.
The Blues move to 2-1-0 on the year and continue their six-game road trip tomorrow in Edmonton. Meanwhile, the Flames are 1-2-0 and will head to Winnipeg on Friday.
