The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to break in to the win column following a 5-4, shootout loss at home to the Ottawa Senators. Mike Hoffman scored the game winner in round three of the shootout as he beat James Riemer with a high shot over his glove to spoils a 29 save performance. Kyle Turris, Alex Chasson, Milan Michalek and Mark Stone each lit the lamp for the Senators while Craig Anderson recorded 37 saves to get the win. The Blue Jackets received goals from Joffrey Lupol, Tyler Bozak, Peter Holland and Daniel Winnik all found the back of the net but James Reimer’s 29 save was not enough

The Columbus Blue Jackets enjoyed a great finish to last season but have struggled in the early going this so far. The Blue Jackets took one on the chin Wednesday in a 7-3 loss to the visiting Ottawa Senators. CBJ actually held a 3-2 lead before Ottawa reeled off five consecutive goals. Seven Senators found the back of the net and Craig Anderson recorded 37 stops to pick up the victory. The Blue Jackets received goals from Brandon Saad, Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner while Sergei Bobrovsky absorbed the loss with 26 stops. The loss dropped Columbus to 0-4 where they have been outscored 20-9.
The Maple Leafs are 1-8 in their last 9 games playing on 3 or more days rest and the under is 5-1 in Maple Leafs last 6 vs. Metropolitan while the Maple Leafs are 9-42 in their last 51 road games. The Blue Jackets are 0-4 in their last 4 overall and the over is 6-0-1 in Blue Jackets last 7 Friday games while the Blue Jackets are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference. The road team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. I’ll dig in to this while waiting for goalies to be confirmed so please check back by Friday afternoon…
