Make sure you’ve got your spot reserved on the couch tonight, because there are a whopping 12 games on the NHL schedule. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty to talk about, so let’s see what’s going on in today’s headlines.

Andrei Markov, D, Montreal Canadiens: Life is good for the Canadiens right now. They’re now the second team in NHL history to start the season with eight straight victories in regulation, following a 7-2 win over the Sabres last night at First Niagara Center.
Markov logged four assists and a goal, while P.K. Subban put up three assists of his own.
Montreal needs two more wins for the league record of 10 to start a season.

Joonas Kemppainen, C, Boston Bruins: Kemppainen put up a goal and an assist last night in the Bruins’ 5-3 victory over the Islanders at Barclays Center. Fellow center Ryan Spooner managed a score and a helper as well, while goalie Jonas Gustavsson putt up 23 saves.
That brings the Bruins to 3-3-1 on the year; they’re 3-0-0 on the road with a scoring edge of 16-8.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, C, Washington Capitals: Kuznetsov had seven shots on goal last night, and made them count with three goals alongside a pair of assists. His efforts would help his team to a 7-4 victory over the Oilers at Rexall Place. Justin Williams would add a goal and an assist of his own.
That gives the Caps a five-game win streak, and they officially sweep their three games in western Canada.

Jonathan Quick, G, Los Angeles Kings: Quick was definitely on his game last night against the Hurricanes at Staples Center. He bagged 40 saves in a 3-0 shutout, while teammate Tyler Toffoli provided most of the offense on two goals. He’s got six of the team’s 13 scores this year.
That brings the Kings to 4-3-0 after an 0-3-0 start.
