The Islanders look to add another tally to the win column as they welcome the Calgary Flames to Brooklyn on Monday night.
The Flames are off to a bit of a rough start this season after coming in with such high expectations as they're 2-6 on the year and in second to last in the Pacific division and face another tough test on Monday against the Islanders. Calgary was the Cinderella team of the Western Conference last year as they went from a preseason basement dweller to a second round playoff team and with so much talent on their roster it was clear to see why they were picked to return to the postseason once again this year. However, an ugly start has skeptics reassessing and the team trying to find an answer and while there is plenty of hockey left to be played the Flames need to figure it out soon before they fall too far behind. The Flames will turn to Joni Ortio here after Jonas Hiller took the loss at MSG yesterday and he will face off against Jaroslav Halak.

The Islanders meanwhile have started strong and sit in third place in the Metro division behind the Rangers and Capitals as they have won four of their first six games and have a respectable 27 goals in just eight games. New York was also a postseason team a year ago and like the Flames have a ton of young talent but in their case they are a little further along than their counterparts tonight and by season's end I think we will see that come in to play. It is tough to fade the Flames on back to back nights especially when they're in the midst of a goaltender battle but I just don't see how they come in and leave with two points against a better Islanders side.
