The Flyers look to shake off a home loss at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night as they welcome the Devils to Philly on Thursday.
The New Jersey Devils have won as many games as they have lost through their first nine games with an additional loss coming via overtime which has them in fifth place in the Metro division, and if not for Cory Schneider between the pipes things could be much worse. The Devils have one of the leagues best goaltenders and have orchestrated their game plan to tailor to that as they are pretty strong defensively and try to capitalize on special teams when given the opportunity. The Devils don't have a ton of fire power offensively but they have seemed to turn up their game on the road this season as three of their four victories have been outside New Jersey.

The Flyers lost a tough one at home to the Sabres their last time out as they seem to lack a bit of killer instinct when they are leading late in games and while it hasn't come back to bite them too much this season as they're 4-2-2 so far they could be that much better. Philly will go as far as their top line will take them especially now with what looked to be the new starting goalie in Michal Neuvirth being bumped to the injured reserve. Philly needs to find some secondary scoring if they're going to emerge as a threat in the Eastern Conference but it might be too late to go after one or two come trade deadline time as they will likely be sellers at that point so I think an in season trade or a player from within stepping up is on the horizon. This game screams overtime and with Schneider going for the Devils I think it'll be a low scoring affair that comes in under the total.
