The Dallas Stars welcome the San Jose Sharks to the American Airlines Center on Saturday afternoon.
The San Jose Sharks never found the groove offensively and the defense couldn’t win by their lonesome in a 2-1 loss to Nashville at the SAP Center on Wednesday. Eric Nystrom got the Predators on the board quickly at 3:22 of the opening frame with Callie Jamkrok scoring the winner with around eleven minutes left in the final period to make a winner of Pekka Rinne who brushed aside 20 shots in the victory that improved the Predators to 7-1-1. The Sharks received a goal from Joe Pavelski and Marlon Jones took the loss with a 22 save effort to drop San Jose to 5-4.

The Dallas Stars have had a great track record against Vancouver so things looked positive with the Canucks visiting the American Airlines Center Thursday. However the Stars needed a pair of third period goals to erase a 3-1 deficit before Jamie Benn lit the lamp at 2:28 of overtime for a 4-3 win. Patrick Sharp scored twice and Jason Demers tallied with Antti Niemi recording 29 stops for the 8-2 Stars. Vancouver received goals from Radim Vrbata, Alexandre Burrows and Alexander Edler with Ryan Miller taking the defeat despite 25 stops.
The under is 4-0-1 in Sharks last 5 vs. a team with a winning record and is 4-0-1 in Sharks last 5 games playing on 2 days rest while going 4-1-1 in Sharks last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in Stars last 4 vs. Western Conference and is 4-0 in Stars last 4 home games while the Stars are 7-0 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Sharks are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the over is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings in Dallas. The trends favor San Jose and the over but I’m not sold on either squad and will dig deeper while waiting for goalies…
