The Flames and Oilers meet up in Edmonton on Saturday night for this season's second installment of the Battle of Alberta.
The Calgary Flames have lost 9 of their first 11 games after (as of writing down 5-2 in the third) losing to the Canadiens at home last night and now they face off against their arch rivals from Edmonton looking to avoid their second loss to them this season. The Flames have had a bad start and things don't appear to be getting any better as they have yet to win a game on home ice and now head into extremely hostile territory to play an Oilers side beaming with confidence at the moment after an impressive comr from behind win over these same Canadiens on Thursday. Karri Ramo will likely get the start with Jonas Hiller on the shelf and Joni Ortio playing last night and with this being Ramo's return stint after getting sent to the minors you can be sure he will want to play well.

The Oilers meanwhile have been very competitive this season and appear to have turned a page on their futile ways but they need to do a better job of earning victories in the record book and not just morally or else they will fall short of the playoffs once again. Connor McDavid has come as advertised as he already has 10 points on the season and is fifth in league scoring with that mark and with this being his first home game in this long, storied rivalry you can bet he will be pumped up to put on a show. Edmonton will go back with Cam Talbot here who has been pretty solid on the whole this season and with the Flames goalie carousel continuing to spin it gives Edmonton the edge in the crease here and ultimately I think that will be the difference as Edmonton gets the win.
