The Line: San Jose Sharks / Florida Panthers --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Sharks look to shake off a loss to the Blue Jackets in their last outing as they welcome the Panthers to town on Thursday night.
The Florida Panthers look to continue their strong play to start the year as they face off against the Sharks on Thursday night and as of writing the Panthers are up late in the third period on the Anaheim Ducks. The Cats have established themselves as one of the better defensive batteries in the NHL as Aaron Ekblad anchors the point and Roberto Luongo mans the crease in what is the core of an underrated team that can do some damage in the Atlantic division this season. Florida has a nice core up front as well led by Nick Bjugstad, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Vincent Trocheck with tons of veteran support thrown in for good measure. Al Montoya, one of the league's better backups, will get the start as he will go up against Martin Jones.

Oh, the San Jose Sharks. If you have been following the site for the last few years or even over the last few weeks you'll know how much I hate trying to figure this team out. They are the streakiest team in the league and can go from contender to pretender in the span of 20 minutes as we saw in their last outing against the Columbus Blue jackets. It should come as no surprise then that the Sharks are currently at the .500 mark with a 6-6 record putting them firmly in the middle of the Pacific division and is a spot we could see them stay for the duration of the season. Until we can come up with a formula for this team it'll be tough to back them or fade them but my instincts here are leaning towards the Panthers who are coming off an impressive outing last night and will be playing tight defense which is to their advantage in this spot.
