After a busy Tuesday, the NHL is easing up a bit tonight, with just two games on the schedule. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the key players, stats and headlines in the news today.

Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: Lundqvist bagged himself a shutout last night against the Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden. He made 33 saves in a 3-0 victory. In the process, he passed up Mike Richter for career franchise appearances and saves.
Jesper Fast, Rick Nash and Ryan McDonagh each scored goals for New York, who moves to 11-2-2 with their sixth straight victory. The Rangers have won 16 of the past 17 against the Hurricanes.

Matt Duchene, C, Colorado Avalanche: Duchene teamed up with Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon last night to push the Avalanche to a 4-0 shutout victory. Duchene himself had a pair of goals and an assist. On the defensive side, Reto Berra held down the fort on 25 saves.
The victory brings Colorado to 5-9-1, while the Flyers sit at 5-7-3. They lost for the seventh time in their past eight games, going 1-5-2 in that span.

Petr Mrazek, G, Detroit Red Wings: Not to be outdone, Mrazek also logged a shutout last night in Detroit at Joe Lewis Arena. He bagged saves on all 38 shots while Andreas Athanasiou provided the lone goal in a 1-0 win against the Capitals.
Alex Ovechkin had 15 shots on goal here, which matches his NHL high. He couldn’t get the puck past Mrazek, though. He’s currently still tied with Sergei Fedorov for the most career goals by a Russian-born player.

Colton Sissons, C, Nashville Predators: The Senators were leading for much of the game last night against the Predators at Bridgestone Arena, but Nashville scored three third-period goals to emerge with a 7-5 victory in a wild game.
Sissons bagged a goal here, and Gabriel Bourque and Mattias Ekholm each had a score and an assist.
Pekka Rinne put up 21 saves here; Craig Anderson had 31 overall.
