The Bridgestone Arena and the Nashville Predators host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs faced tall odds when they took the ice at the American Airlines Center against the red hot Dallas Stars. The circumstances didn’t favor the Maple Leafs so great defense and some clutch scoring were needed to capture a 3-2 victory. Toronto received scoring from Jake Gardner, PA Parenteau and Peter Holland and goalie James Remer made the offense hold up with a solid 36 stop effort to help his team end a three game skid. Vernon Fiddler and Patrick Sharpe lit the lamp for Dallas with Jason Demers dishing out a pair of helpers but Antti Niemi allowed all three goals on 30 shots as the Stars fell to 12-4-0.
The Nashville Predators put on a show for the fans at Bridgestone Arena but the visiting Ottawa Senators didn’t enjoy the 7-5 defeat on Tuesday night. This was offense only with the Predators receiving goals from Barrett Jackman, Gabriel Bourque, Mattias Ekholm, Shea Weber, Austin Watson, Roman Jossi and Colton Sissons while Pekka Rinnes picked up the win with five goals allowed on 26 shots. The Senators were no strangers to lighting the lamp with Curtis Lazar, Erik Karlsson, Milan Michalek each scoring with Zack Smith tallying twice. That still wasn’t enough with Craig Anderson giving up all seven goals on 38 shots.
The Maple Leafs are 1-8 in their last 9 Thursday games and the under is 7-1 in Maple Leafs last 8 Thursday games while the Maple Leafs are 3-18 in their last 21 after allowing 2 or less in their previous game. The Predators are 0-5 in their last 5 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and the over is 3-0-2 in Predators last 5 vs. Atlantic while going 8-1 in Predators last 9 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game. The Maple Leafs are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and the over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings. The trends favor Nashville but no line or goalies have been released…
