Following a very busy night in the NHL, we’re heading into a relatively light evening. In the meantime, let’s check out today’s headlines and see which players are in the news for their recent play.

Matt Duchene, C, Colorado Avalanche: The Avs were down 2-0 last night in Boston, but were able to storm back for an eventual 3-2 victory over the Bruins at TD Garden. Duchene logged the game-winner and an assist on five shots, helping Colorado to 6-9-1 overall this season.
That’s two wins in a row for the Avalanche on their season-long seven-game road trip. Duchene has fired up the team lately with six goals in five games.

Mats Zuccarello, RW, New York Rangers: The Rangers jumped out to a fast start last night at Madison Square Garden in a big game against the visiting Blues, and they rode it to a 6-3 victory at home.
Zuccarello posted a goal and two assists here, and teammates Derek Stepan and Rick Nash chipped in with a pair of assists each.
New York was up 3-0 quick before St. Louis got back in the game, but prevailed and have gone 9-0-2 in their last 11.

Jason Chimera, LW, Washington Capitals: It’s been a while since Chimera bagged a power-play goal, but he snagged two of them last night against the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.
Chimera also added an assist in the 5-2 win, while goaltender Braden Holtby snagged 18 saves. T.J. Oshie, Justin Williams and Nicklas Backstrom also scored.
The Caps move to 11-4-0 on the year, while the flailing Flyers go to 5-8-3 overall.

Sergey Kalinin, C, New Jersey Devils: The Devils have bounced back from a four-game losing streak to start out the season and have since gone 9-3-0. They recorded their latest win last night at United Center against the defending Cup champ Blackhawks, 3-2 on the strength of a Kalinin goal in the third. He also had an assist.
The Devils haven’t lost two in a row yet this season; Chicago continues to slide at 8-7-1. They’re 2-4-1 in their last seven.
