NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
November 16, 2015
The NHL is easing back into action after a slow day yesterday; we’ve got six matchups to look forward to this evening. While we’re waiting on those, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in today’s headlines.
Mats Zuccarello, RW, New York Rangers: Zuccarello has been on fire lately, and he stayed that way yesterday at the Garden against the visiting Maple Leafs. He posted a goal and two assists in the 4-3 win, with teammate Ryan McDonagh logging a goal and an assist of his own.
The Rangers have won nine straight games, which is something they haven’t done since the 1972-73 season. They’ll play Tampa on Thursday and can tie their franchise record for a win streak with a victory there.

Patrick Kane, RW, Chicago Blackhawks: The defending champs used a big second period last night to cruise to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Flames at United Center. Kane bagged a goal and an assist with three shots on goal, as did teammate Marian Hossa.
Net-minder Scott Darling posted 25 saves in a nice bounce-back performance after an ugly loss at the Wild on October 30.
The Blackhawks are now 10-7-1 overall, 8-2-1 at home and 7-0-0 when they’ve got the lead after two periods.
The Sabres’ Zach Bogosian was able to participate in a morning skate over the weekend, and he seems to be getting close to making his season debut.
There’s no exact timetable for Bogosian just yet, but his return from that lower-body injury seems to be getting close.
Alex Ovechkin remains tied for the career goal-scoring lead among Russian-born players. He hasn’t recorded a point in the three games since tying the record way back on November 7.
The pressure may be getting to Ovechkin, but he’ll put one in soon and take sole possession of the record.
