The Minnesota Wild head into the TD Garden on Thursday looking to spoil the party for the Bruins who have just two wins at home this season.
The Wild are off to a 10-4-3 start to the season and are looking like a Western Conference contender through the first quarter of the season but in the Central they need to find a way to separate themselves from the rest of the pack as second through sixth is separated by just five points. Minnesota is a defense first type of team and have a ton of options at both ends of the rink and with Devan Dubnyk in goal they have confidence playing in front of him which makes for a very tough team to beat. Minny is but 3-3-3 on the road this season which has been their downfall as 75% of their losses have come away from the Xcel Energy Center. Dubnyk will get the call here as he will go up against Tuukka Rask.
USA TODAY Sports
The Bruins have been mediocre at best this season sitting with an 8-8-1 record through 17 contests and haven't been able to get it done at home so far which is usually their calling card. Boston has taken a step back in terms of their position as one of the NHL's elite and could continue to regress over the next few seasons as some key pieces have moved on and others will likely do so as well in the near future. The B's sit in sixth place in the Atlantic division and could miss out on the playoffs once again this year if they can't get it together in a hurry. I have no idea why Boston is favoured here as the Wild are the better team and we will jump on them now before the line swings in favour of Minny.
