The Oilers look for their second straight victory after defeating the Devils over the weekend as they head into Washington to battle the Capitals.
The Edmonton Oilers produced one of their best wins of the season in their last outing as they made quick work of the New Jersey Devils and disposed of them by a 5-1 final giving them their seventh win of the year. Edmonton was dealt a tough blow when Connor McDavid went down with an injured collarbone but in his absence we have seen Taylor Hall and Leon Draisatl lighting it up and if that can continue than it may alleviate some of the pressure felt on the organization and McDavid to return quickly. Edmonton remains in the basement of the Pacific division with a 7-12-1 record but a road win here against one of the league's best would be a statement they are moving in the right direction but it is going to be a tough task to pull off.

The Capitals meanwhile are 13-5-1 this season and sit in second place in the Metro division and look like a team ready to finally jump into the league's elite and get Alex Ovechkin an elusive Stanley Cup ring. The Caps added some pieces in the off season and appear to be all on this year and if they are in a good position in a few months time we could see some role players added to the fold at the trade deadline as another piece offensively could push this group over the edge. The Caps are a tough team to play at the Verizon Center and while Edmonton looked good against the Devils they are up against a different monster here and I don't see it ending well for the blue and orange.
