The New York Islanders play host to the St Louis Blues in a Friday night tilt.
The St. Louis Blues offense was nowhere to be found in a 3-1 loss to the visiting Florida Panthers on Tuesday at the Scottrade Center. David Backes was the lone source of offense for the Blues who had generally have had great success in this match up defense and goaltending were not enough with Jake Allen allowing all three goals on 15 shots before Brian Elliott played the third and stopped eight shots. The Panthers saw Derek MacKenzie score twice with Brandon Pirri scoring in the second while Roberto Luongo recorded 29 saves for his 16th career win versus St Louis.

The New York Islanders look to stay hot when the St Louis Blues come to town on Friday. The Islanders upended arch rival the NY Rangers 2-1 in a shootout Wednesday night at the Barclays Center. The Islanders received a regulation goal from John Tavares with Kyle Okposo recording the only goal in the SO. Jaroslav Halak was spectacular in the nets with a 33 save performance and stopped the Rangers on their three shootout attempts to help his team to win number three in a row which upped their record to 14-8-4. Viktor Stalberg score the Rangers lone goal but star Henrik Lundqvist was all by his lonesome in this one with 36 saves not being enough for the 17-6-3 Rangers.
The Blues are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and the over is 6-0-3 in Blues last 9 Friday games while the under is 6-0 in Blues last 6 games playing on 2 days rest. The Islanders are 4-0 in their last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Central while the over is 3-0-2 in Islanders last 5 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. The over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and the Blues are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings while the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in New York. I favor the over until goalies are announced…
