We’ve got a very busy day coming up in the NHL, with 10 matchups on the schedule. While we’re waiting for the afternoon, let’s take our daily look at the key stats and headlines.

Evander Kane, LW, Buffalo Sabres: The Buffalo offense is picking up steam these days, and they put up another nice effort yesterday against the Coyotes at First Niagara Center.
Kane provided two goals in the 5-2 win, with one coming shorthanded.
The Sabres have a whopping 17 goals in their past four games, thoroughly outpacing their 45 goals in their first 22 matchups.

Matt Read, RW, Philadelphia Flyers: Read will remember yesterday’s game against the Devils for a long time to come. He scored the first overtime goal of his career with 1:36 left in the extra period to give Philly a 4-3 win at Prudential Center. It was his first score in the last 12 games as well.
On the defensive side, Michal Neuvirth put up 15 saves to help get the Flyers to 11-10-5. They’ve won four straight games.

Johnny Gaudreau, LW, Calgary Flames: Gaudreau logged his second NHL hat trick last night, with the third goal coming as the game-winner with 1:40 left in overtime. That shot gave the Flames a 5-4 victory over the Bruins at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Jiri Hudler of the Flames and Matt Beleskey of the Bruins each had a goal and an assist with three shots on goal.
As for Gaudreau, he leads the league with three scores and five points in 3-on-3 overtime.

Anders Nilsson, G, Edmonton Oilers: Nilsson was a busy guy last night against the Stars, stopping 42 of the 43 shots that came his way. The effort came in a 2-1 overtime victory at Rexall Place, with Jordan Eberle scoring 45 seconds into the extra period.
Nilsson has a whopping 90 saves in two starts against Dallas this year. The Oilers were outshot 43-24 here.
