NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
December 11, 2015
The NHL is in the middle of a pretty busy run, and that will continue with tonight’s set of seven games. While we’re waiting on those puck drops, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in our daily wrap-up.
Darren Helm, C, Detroit Red Wings: The Red Wings were down against the Canadiens yesterday at Joe Louis Arena, that is until Helm and Abdelkader scored just over a minute apart. Helm had two goals and the game-winner in the 3-2 victory, while Petr Mrazek logged 23 saves on 25 shots.
Detroit is now 16-8-5 on the season, and 8-0-4 in their past 12 games. They’d previously had a seven-game losing streak against the Canadiens.

Nikita Kucherov, RW, Tampa Bay Lightning: Kucherov was able to score twice last night against the Senators at Amalie Arena in Tampa, helping his team to a 4-1 victory.
Valtteri Filppula and J.T. Brown had the other goals, while Ben Bishop had 30 saves on 31 shots.
As for the Senators, they’re 15-9-5 on the year, and skidding at 1-2-0 on their four-game road trip.
James Neal, RW, Nashville Predators: Neal bagged a pair of goals last night against the Blackhawks at Bridgestone Arena, helping his team to a 5-1 win over the defending champs.
Pekka Rinne had a nice game here, putting up 35 saves on 36 shots.
On the other side, Patrick Kane logged a goal, which brings his franchise-record points streak to 24 games in all.
Mathieu Perreault, C, Winnipeg Jets: The Jets jumped out to a quick start last night against the Blue Jackets at MTS Centre, but it was barely enough to hold off Columbus.
Perreault scored once and assisted three times in the 6-4 victory, while Dustin Byfuglien had a goal and two assists of his own.
The Jets were up in this one 3-0 and 5-2, but the Jackets kept finding ways to hang around. The Jackets are just 1-3-2 in their past six and 11-17-2. That’s last in the overall league standings.
