The Sabres look for their second win in as many tries against a playoff caliber side as they head into the Motor City to battle the Buffalo Sabres.
The Sabres are coming off a big win over the LA Kings that snapped the teams six game winning streak and now they have a shot at handing the Wings their first regulation loss in 10 games when they meet up on Monday at Joe Louis Arena. Buffalo sits in seventh place in the Atlantic but for all of the criticisms they receive they are only eight points out of a playoff spot and that is peanuts when considering the grand scheme of the NHL season. The Sabres are 5-7-2 on the road which is a little concerning heading into Detroit as the Joe is always a tough place to get a win for a visiting team and with the Wings having earned points in 13 of 15 contests at home including 10 wins the Sabres know tonight's game is going to be a tough one. Chad Johnson is expected to start as he will go up against Petr Mrazek.
USA TODAY Sports
The Red Wings head into Monday night coming off an overtime loss but did manage to pick up a single point and have now earned at least something in 10 straight games and sit in second place in the Atlantic division. Detroit is looking to extend their own impressive playoff streak and with the way they are playing right now and the fact the rest of the division has had a tough time they could very well leap frog the Habs and claim top spot. Detroit are big time favourites here and with Mrazek getting the start they find themselves in a very comfortable spot as he should be the team's every day starter and he proves it again here.
