NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
December 15, 2015
After a couple of relatively quiet days in the NHL, we’ve got 11 games coming our way this evening. While we’re waiting on those pucks to drop, let’s visit the daily headlines and see who’s in the news.
Cam Talbot, G, Edmonton Oilers: Talbot was a busy guy last night against the Bruins at TD Garden, and he was efficient as well. He made saves on 47 of 49 shots to help the Oilers to a 3-2 overtime victory.
Andrej Sekera posted the game-winner for the Oilers, and Jordan Eberle logged a goal and two assists.
The Oilers have swept the season series from the Bruins. They’ve also won six in a row to get to 14-15-2 on the year.

Braden Holtby, G, Washington Capitals: Not to be outdone, Holtby had a great game as well last night on the road at Consol Energy Center. He posted 44 saves in a 4-1 victory over the Penguins, who outshot the Caps 45-34 on the evening.
T.J. Oshie put up two goals and an assist here, while Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and two assists.
The Penguins fall to 15-11-3 on the season; they’re now 11 points behind the Capitals (21-6-2) in the Metropolitan Division.
Brian Boyle, C, Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning have been thrashed by injuries this year already, but they’ve found a way to work through them. That was the case last night, when the team dressed just 11 forwards but still came up with a 2-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Boyle snagged a shorthanded goal in the third period that turned out to be the game-winner. Ben Bishop held down the fort on 25 saves. On the other side, Joonas Korpisalo had 27 saves on 29 shots in his NHL debut.
Mike Hoffman, LW, Ottawa Senators: Over at Canadian Tire Centre, the Senators managed a 5-3 victory over the visiting Kings last night. Hoffman had two goals and an assist, while Mika Zibanejad had a goal and two helpers of his own. Erik Karlsson also helped out with a score and an assist.
The Senators sit at 16-10-5 on the year and had lost two straight coming into this one.
