After a very busy evening last night, the NHL is calming down a bit this evening with just two matchups on the schedule. There’s still plenty to talk about in our daily wrap-up, however, so let’s check out the headlines and see who’s in the news right now.

Roberto Luongo, G, Florida Panthers: Luongo was solid last night during the Panthers’ 5-1 win over the Islanders at Barclays Center. He bagged 33 saves on 34 shots, while Aleksander Barkov (goal; two assists) and Reilly Smith (goal; assist) helped out on offense.
After a slow first period in which the panthers were outshot 19-2, they took control, even without Jaromir Jagr and Nick Bjugstad, who were both out.

Rick Nash, LW, New York Rangers: The Rangers have been on quite a skid lately, but they were able to get back to their winning ways last night against the Oilers at the Garden. Nash scored and had an assist, as did fellow winger Mats Zuccarello, in the 4-2 victory. Rookie defenseman Dylan McIlrath got his first NHL goal in this one, and goalie Henrik Lundqvist had 18 saves.
The Rangers are just 3-6-2 in their past 11 after a 13-1-2 streak. They’re 19-9-4 overall.

Mikko Koivu, C, Minnesota Wild: The Wild opened up last night’s game against the Canucks at Xcell Energy Center during a four-goal second period, cruising to an eventual 6-2 win.
Koivu and Thomas Vanek each had a goal and three assists, while Zach Parise scored and had two helpers of his own.
The Wild have at least one point in eight straight games since November 27. They’re 16-7-6 overall on the year.

Kari Lehtonen, G, Dallas Stars: Last night’s late game featured the Stars against the visiting Blue Jackets, and Lehtonen was on point in that one. He snagged 34 saves on 35 shots, helping his team to a 5-1 victory.
Tyler Seguin scored two goals in just 30 seconds during the second period, and the Stars remain one of just two NHL teams without consecutive losses this year.
