The Florida Panthers shoot for a road win versus the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center.
The Florida Panthers survived a poor first period to rout the New York Islander 5-1 at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night. The Islanders held a massive 19-2 edge in shots but couldn’t break through and the Panthers took over from there. Aleksander Barkov led the Florida attack with a goal and a pair of helpers while Aaron Ekblad, Vincent Trocheck, Reilly Smith and Jonathan Huberdeau also lit the lamp. Roberto Luongo was strong in the nets with a 33 save performance that upped the Panthers to 15-12-4. Brock Nelson scored for the Isles but Jaroslav Halak struggled with four goals given up on 16 shots as the New Yorkers fell to 18-9-5.

The New Jersey Devils got in to the win column with a 2-0 victory versus the Buffalo Sabres Tuesday at the first Niagara Center. The offense still needs some help after suffering a 4-0 loss to the Islanders on Sunday. The Devils received goals from Lee Stempniak and Jiri Tlusty to support the work between the pipes by Cory Schneider who brushed aside 25 shots for his second whitewash of the season that lifted the Devils to 16-11-4 with their second victory in three contests. The Sabres bid for a three game winning streak came to a halt with the offense failing to score which saddled Linus Ullmark with the loss with a 19 stop effort that left Buffalo looking at a 13-16-3 record.
The under is 2-0-2 in Panthers last 4 Thursday games and the Panthers are 6-1 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while going 5-1 in their last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. The Devils are 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games and are 4-0 in their last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game while the over is 3-0-3 in Devils last 6 Thursday games. The home team is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings and the over is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings while the Panthers are 8-27 in the last 35 meetings in New Jersey. I lean New Jersey pending goalies but they haven’t won two in a row in the past nine games…
