NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
December 19, 2015
The NHL has a busy 10-game schedule ahead today, beginning this afternoon and carrying on to the wee hours of the night. While we’re waiting on those pucks to hit the ice, let’s check out some of the key players and stats in the news right now.
Frank Vatrano, C, Boston Bruins: Yesterday is a date Vatrano will remember for the rest of his lie. The rookie forward bagged the first hat trick of his NHL career last night at Consol Energy Center against the Penguins, helping the team to a 6-2 victory.
Patrice Bergeron would add two goals on four shots, and Conor Sheary had a goal and an assist on the other side.
Boston moves to 18-9-4 with this victory while the Penguins sit at 15-13-3.

Roberto Luongo, G, Florida Panthers: Mitchell bagged his first goal of the season last night against the Hurricanes in Raliegh, and it was a big one. His tally was the deciding score in a 2-0 victory, with Luongo providing the defense with 24 saves in the shutout.
The Panthers won three of four games on their road trip after dropping one to the Bruins last Saturday. They’re now 17-12-4 on the year.
As for the Hurricanes, this moves them to 12-15-5.
Bobby Ryan, RW, Ottawa Senators: The Sens had a great second period last night against the Sharks at Canadian Tire Centre. They scored three times in the second en route to a 4-2 victory.
Ryan had a goal and an assist. Chris Wideman, Erik Karlsson and Jean-Gabriel Pageau also scored.
Ottawa is now 17-11-5 on the year. As for the Sharks, this was just their second loss in 15 games this year after scoring the first goal.
Bryan Little, C, Winnipeg Jets: Rangers fans who stayed up late to catch the road game against the Jets wish this morning that they’d gone to bed early. New York continued their slumping ways at MTS Centre with a 5-2 loss. That gives them a seven-game road losing streak. They’re 3-8-2 in their past 13 games overall.
Little posted two goals and an assist here, while Blake Wheeler snagged four helpers (a career-high). Winnipeg is 15-15-2 on the season.
