The Wild look to shake off an overtime loss in Tampa Bay last night and salvage a split in Florida as they take on the Panthers in Sunrise.
The Minnesota Wild dropped a tough one on the road in Tampa last night but salvaged a single point and kept pace in the Central division as they sit in fourth place with 47 points and are just a single point back of the Blackhawks for third. Minny has had a tough time on the road this season with a 6-5-6 mark and while that doesn’t seem too overwhelming they are a very impressive 14-5-1 at home and while that only seems to matter come playoff time it could be their downfall in getting there as the Central is very tough and the race is only going to heat up as the season moves along. Devan Dubnyk will likely get the call here as he will go up against Al Montoya.
The Panthers have been the surprise team of the league this season as they have gone from drafting first overall two seasons ago to leading the Atlantic division and as winners of eight games in a row they will be tough to slow down in this one .Florida heads into tonight’s game with a 9-1 mark in the last 10 contests and are 12-6-2 at home this season which puts them in a good position against the Wild. Florida has the second best team defense in the Eastern Conference with 84 goals conceded which shows how strong Roberto Luongo and the back end has been this year and while Luongo will be out for this one Al Montoya is a suitable replacement and I think Florida gets their ninth in a row.
