The Sharks look for their second win in as many nights as they travel from Calgary to Winnipeg to take on the Jets.
The San Jose Sharks weathered the storm in Calgary last night and after giving up a number of leads they rallied to grab a 5-4 victory against a stingy Flames team that is playing desperate hockey. San Jose can extend their lead on third place in the Pacific with a win here but they face off against a Jets team that has played well at home this season despite sitting with a sub .500 record for the season. With Martin Jones going last night he may have the night off here but if not he will face off against Connor Hellebuyck who continues to split time with Mike Hutchinson as Ondrej Pavelec recovers from an injury.
The Jets need rebound after a tough loss their last time out and need to right the ship on what has been a relatively disappointing season as they are coming off a playoff appearance last year. Winnipeg sits in last in the Central division and are 14 points back of the Jets for the final automatic berth in the division but are just four back of a wild card spot so their dream of gaining a playoff spot for consecutive seasons is very much in play. The problem here for the Jets is that San Jose plays very well on the road as they are 14-6-2 away from home and match up well with the Jets and while it is very tough to determine which Sharks team shows up on any given night I like them here.
