The NHL is taking it a bit easy tonight after a pretty busy Tuesday; we’ve got just four games on the schedule. While we’re waiting on those, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there.

Brock Nelson, NY Islanders: Nelson will remember last night’s game for a very long time. He scored his first NHL hat trick and also had an assist against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Barclays Center, helping the Isles to a 5-2 win.
Ryan Strome and Brian Strait also scored for New York, while Thomas Greiss posted 18 saves.
The Isles are now 23-15-5 and back in a tie for second place in the Metropolitan.

Patrik Berglund, C, St. Louis Blues: Berglund helped the Blues cruise past the Devils last night at Scottrade Center, scoring two power-play goals en route to a 5-2 victory.
Ty Rattie posted his first NHL goal here, and Scottie Upshall and David Backes added the other goals. Brian Elliot had 22 saves.
St Louis has won five in a row against New Jersey. They’re 25-14-7 on the season.

Andrew Shaw, RW, Chicago Blackhawks: Shaw had a pair of goals on six shots last night at United Center, helping the defending champs get a 3-2 win over the Predators. Marian Hossa helped out with two assists and three shots on goal.
Corey Crawford continued a strong run with 41 saves, and coach Joel Quenneville is now tied with Al Arbour for second all-time with 782 wins. He’s in his 19th season overall.

Steven Stamkos, C, Tampa Bay Lightning: There were plenty of accolades to go around last night for the Lightning. They secured a 4-0 shutout victory over the Avalanche at Pepsi Center.
Stamkos scored twice with seven shots on goal, while Ondrej Palat had a goal and two assists. Ben Bishop put up the shutout on 21 saves.
The Lightnign are now 22-17-4 and 11-6-1 in their last 18. They went 3-1 on their road trip.
