We’ve got eight games ahead of us in the NHL tonight, so there will be a lot to talk about afterward. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the notable players and headlines out there in our daily wrap-up.
Joonas Korpisalo, G, Columbus Blue Jackets: Korpisalo nearly had his first NHL shutout last night, but his 41 saves were good enough for a 3-1 victory over the Leafs at Air Canada Centre. Korpisalo is now 2-4-1 in the NHL.
Boone Jenner posted a goal and an assist with two shots on goal for the Jackets, who are 16-25-4 and ended a four-game losing streak with the victory.

Jakub Voracek, RW, Philadelphia Flyers: Voracek was on his game last night, posting a goal and two assists with three shots on goal against the Bruins. Wayne Simmonds and Mark Streit scored 1:22 apart in the third period, leading to a 3-2 comeback victory at Wells Fargo Center.
Claude Giroux also helped out with three assists here to move the Flyers to 19-15-7 on the year. It was their fourth straight win.
Sam Benett, C, Calgary Flames: Yesterday’s Blowout Award goes to the Flames, who destroyed the Panthers 6-0 at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Bennett was the man here, posting four goals on five shots for his first NHL hat trick. Dougie Hamilton managed two assists to help out.
Jonas Hiller had 16 saves for his first shutout of the year and 23rd in his career. The Flames are now 20-20-2 thus far.
Frederik Andersen, G, Anaheim Ducks: Andersen had a nice game last night, posting 24 saves on 25 shots in a 4-1 win over the Senators at Honda Center.
Shea Theodore put up his first NHL goal in the third, which keyed a scoring surge that sealed the game late.
The Ducks are now 18-17-7 on the season, while Ottawa sits at 20-18-6.
