The Hurricanes look to continue their surprising run as they host the Vancouver Canucks in Raleigh on Friday night.
The Vancouver Canucks head into Carolina on Friday looking to shake off a loss and jump back in the race for a home ice playoff spot in the Pacific division as they currently sit in fourth with 44 points. The Canucks are 8-9-6 on the road this season and have been mediocre at best throughout the course of the year but in the lackluster Pacific division they are very much in the mix for a playoff berth and could very well make a run once they get there. The Canucks look to be a team though that could afford selling some assets and acquiring some more pieces to go along with their young core and while I don’t see it happening this year if they’re in a spot to contend for a playoff spot it may be the end of an era soon as the Sedin’s are getting close to the end of their run.

The Hurricanes meanwhile have taken the league by storm of late and are coming off a huge win last night against the St. Louis Blues and are in a position tonight to jump into fourth place in the Metro with their fifth straight victory. The Canes have some pieces that will be highly coveted at the trade deadline but if it means diminishing any shot at making a playoff run they will likely stand pat ad guys like Eric Staal and Cam Ward will give them a ton of production down the stretch. Carolina is playing a bit of above their means right now but this is a great spot to take them as they will likely turn to Eddie Lack who gets to face his former team and will be eager to prove they made a mistake by letting him walk.
