The Capitals look to complete their pre all-star game domination with another win at home against the Flyers on Wednesday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers head into Washington, DC on Wednesday night looking to improve their standing in the Metro division and perhaps climb nearer to a wild card spot with a victory against the league’s best at the Verizon Center. The Flyers have lost three games in a row after seemingly turning a corner and now sit in seventh place in the division and trail the third place Islanders by eight points heading into tonight’s game. The Flyers are a modest 9-11-3 on the road this season and will send Michael Neuvirth to the crease to face off against his former team while the Caps will stick with Bradn Holtby who is having a Vezina worthy campaign.

The Washington Capitals are 35-8-3 heading into tonight’s game and have earned points in 38 of 36 games this season which is an absolutely astonishing mark considering the parity in this league and how tough it is to be good year after year. The Caps look as though they’re finally ready to bang down the door after knocking loudly last year and while there is a ton of rightful criticism that comes into play when discussing the Caps in the playoffs but they have the pedigree to overcome their past futility. The Caps will be sending a handful of players to the all-star game and they show it again here against an overmatched Flyers group.
