NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
February 2, 2016
The NHL will get back to business today after their All-Star break, and we’ve got a great set of games coming our way. Let’s check out our daily look at the headlines in the meantime to see which players are making news right now.
The Devils’ Mike Cammalleri is reportedly dealing with a hand injury again. He’ll be sidelined for tonight’s game against the Rangers and beyond, but the team doesn’t know how long he’ll be out for. Cammalleri is the Devils’ leading scorer right now.

Another player who won’t be on the ice tonight is the Capitals’ Marcus Johansson. He’s got an upper-body issue and will most likely sit.
Johansson was hurt in the last game before the All-Star break. We’ll call him day-to-day right now.
The Rangers’ Rick Nash didn’t practice yesterday, thanks to a bone bruise. He’s still in a lot of pain and is taking longer to heal than originally projected.
We’d imagine Nash won’t be playing tonight.
The Leafs announced yesterday that James Reimer will be getting the start against the Bruins tonight. He’s got an 8-8-6 record with a 2.10 GAA and .932 save percentage thus far.
Back to the Caps for a moment: Alex Ovechkin is expected to be ready to play by Thursday. He’s getting over a lower-body injury.
Ovechkin is suspended for tonight’s game for missing the All-Star festivities, but he did practice yesterday.
The Predators put winger Eric Nystrom on injured reserve yesterday. He’s dealing with a broken foot, apparently suffered on January 26 when he blocked a shot against the Canucks.
The Oilers’ Connor McDavid will be back out on the ice tonight, which is great news for the team.
McDavid has been out since November 3 due to a broken collarbone, but before that he posted five goals and 12 points in just 13 games.
