We’ve got an absolutely huge 12-game schedule coming up in the NHL, so there will be a lot to keep us busy. While we’re waiting on all those pucks to drop, let’s visit with some of the key players and stats in the news.
Robin Lehner, G, Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres came back from a 2-1 deficit entering the third period at Bell Centre in Montreal last night, scoring three goals en route to a 4-2 victory.
Lehner posted 33 saves in this one, while Jamie McGinn snagged the tying goal on a power play at 7:34 in the third. It was his 11th score of the year.
Alexy Galchenyuk and Dale Weise each scored their 12th of the season in the second period for Montreal.

Ben Bishop, G, Tampa Bay Lightning: Tampa Bay scored twice in the second and once in the third to put up a 3-1 victory over the Red Wings at Amalie Arena last night.
Bishop put up 24 saves in this one, while the team got goals from J.T. Brown, Tyler Johnson (power play) and Nikita Kucherov (power play).
Kucherov’s goal was his 21st of the season; he also had an assist on Johnson’s goal.
The Lightning now sit at 28-18-4 with 60 points, while the Red Wings fall to 25-17-8 and 58 points.
Sean Monahan, C, Calgary Flames: Monahan snagged a goal and three assists for first-star honors last night, helping his team to a 4-1 victory over the Hurricanes at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Mark Giordano and Johnny Gaudreau each scored in the second period. It was Giordano’s 12th of the year and Gaudreau’s 21st. Both players also had an assist.
Carolina outshot Calgary 29-24 and also had a takeaway advantage 9-4. Karri Ramo stood tall, however, with 28 saves.
