The Blues head into Sunrise on Friday night looking to shake off a 2-1 loss in Winnipeg as they battle a Panthers team who sits atop the Atlantic division.
The St. Louis Blues continue to feel the effects of the injury bug as now they have lost their top blue liner in Alex Pietrangelo and with this being crunch time for the NHL’s playoff pushes it couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Blues sit in third place in the Central and do hold a considerable nine point edge on the Predators for that title but are slipping fast behind the Stars and Blackhawks and those are two very good teams you don’t want to see on the road in a potential game seven. The Blues are a respectable 13-8-5 on the road this season while the Cats are 17-7-3 at home and have been the talk of the Eastern Conference this season alongside the Washington Capitals thanks to their unexpected winning ways.

The Panthers are 32-16-6 this season and are six points clear of the Red Wings for the division lead but if they’re going to sustain this success they need to bring in another proven offensive piece and a perfect fit would be Hurricanes captain Eric Staal. Florida is in a nice spot here as they’re a plus-32 in goal differential this season and send Roberto Luongo to the crease to battle Brian Elliott who combined with Jake Allen have the Blues sitting in a tie for fourth in the West in goals conceded. This is going to be a great game but in the end I do like the depth and home ice factor here of the Panthers who should get the win with Roberto Luongo in the crease.
