The Red Wings look to shake off an ugly loss in Pittsburgh this week as they head into Ottawa to battle the Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre.
The Detroit Red Wings were dealt a 5-2 loss to Sidney Crosby and company in Pittsburgh on Thursday night and will look to make amends as they continue their road trip in the Canadian capital on Saturday against a struggling Senators side. The Wings are in the mix for the Atlantic division crown and should land a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs but the race is tighter than people think as they are sitting just a single point up in the Lightning for the third automatic entry from the Atlantic and have a handful of teams on their back for a wild card spot. The Wings will go back with Petr Mrazek after he was shelled against the Penguins but at the moment he gives them the best chance to win. Mrazek will go up against Craig Anderson who continues to log starter’s minutes and he too gives his team the best shot at winning on a nightly basis.

The Senators are in a bind right now as they made some moves already by acquiring Dion Phaneuf to help shore up their blue line but they haven’t had much success since the trade and are now in a position where they could unload some assets as the trade deadline approaches. Ottawa is unlikely to match last season’s ridiculous run to the postseason and are currently trailing the Red Wings by seven points in the Atlantic division and have played an extra game. Ottawa is usually a tough out at home and they get a bit of credit here but the team in line for the postseason is Detroit and I expect Mrazek to have a bounce back effort in a big win for the Wings.
