The Blues look to snap out of a three game losing skid after getting pasted in Nashville last night as they head into Raleigh to face the Hurricanes.
The Blues head into Sunday’s action with the Hurricanes in a tough spot after dropping three games in a row and while they will likely hold on to one of the three Central division berths they are probably going to miss out on home ice advantage in the first round. St. Louis sits just two points back of the Blackhawks for second in the division and three of the Stars for the Central lead but with the way they have been playing of late and the Hawks going out and acquiring some significant pieces it makes you wonder whether they will be competitive enough to get out of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Jake Allen will likely get the start again as he will face off against Cam Ward whose name continues to come up in trade discussions.

The Hurricanes meanwhile have cooled off a bit over the last week but remain in the hunt for a playoff spot despite starting the season as a projected lottery winner in the NHL draft. The Canes have had trouble scoring goals this season but just just four points out of a wild card spot and if they can become buyers at the deadline and bring in some pieces they could very well surprise everyone and land a playoff spot and who knows from there. Carolina is 16-11-6 at home this season and do catch the Blues in a tough spot and while there is considerable value on St. Louis in this one I have to side with the Canes who will be well rested and itching for a statement victory.
