The Flames look to stop the bleeding and play out of the lottery race as they head into Boston to battle the Bruins at the Garden.
The Calgary Flames have had a very tough second half of the season and have gone from being a playoff team a year ago to possibly landing a top end draft pick in the off season and haven’t been able to replicate last season’s run to the second round of the playoffs. Calgary is a young team that has a ton of potential and will be a force for the next handful of years in the Pacific division but for some reason they haven’t been able to find their game this season and a large part of that has to do with goaltending. The Flames have been pasted this season on the score board and have conceded 195 goals in 62 games this season which puts them in the bottom portion of the league. Joni Ortio is expected to get the start as he will face off against Tuukka Rask for the B’s.

Boston meanwhile has gone from a team who unloaded a ton of players and personnel in the offseason to an Atlantic division contender and could very well take the crown by season’s end. The Bruins currently sit in third place in the division but are just four points back of the Lightning and Panthers for top spot and are in a very good place right now in terms of qualifying for the playoffs. The Bruins have a ton of talent at both ends of the ice and while they aren’t the same group that Boston fans have come to know and love they have some great appeal in their lineup and will be a tough out in the postseason. However, they can’t seem to find a way to win games at home which is a rarity in this league and while it may not be as big a concern as winning on the road is it is an interesting dynamic that could come out in the playoffs. For now though, the Bruins shouldn’t have any trouble in this spot with Calgary in a back to back and the B’s needing a win to keep pace.
