After a busy evening last night, the NHL is taking it easy this evening with just three games on the schedule. In the meantime, let’s visit with some of the key stats and players out there right now.

Joakim Nordstrom, C, Carolina Hurricanes: Nordstrom scored the eventual game-winner last night against the Devils, helping his team to a 3-1 victory at Prudential Center in Newark.
The Devils outshot the ‘Canes 30-19 here, but Carolina was able to break their three-game skid with a win.
The Hurricanes are now 29-26-10 with 68 points; the Devils have 67 points at 30-27-7.

Matt Niskanen, D, Washington Capitals: Niskanen scored his fourth goal of the year on a power play in the third period last night against the Penguins at Verizon Center, helping his team to a 3-2 victory.
The Caps were down 2-0 in the second period, but fought back with goals from Mike Richards and Evgeny Kuznetsov for a tie game going into the third.
Washington has now hit the 96-point mark at 46-12-4. The Pens have 72 at 32-22-8.

Shea Weber, D, Nashville Predators: The Preds had a nice offensive night at Bridgestone Arena yesterday in Nashville. They put up a 5-3 victory over the visiting Stars, scoring three times in the third period to help secure the win.
Weber scored once and had two assists. He now has 16 goals on the year. Craig Smith (15) and James Neal (22) also scored here.
The Predators move to 32-21-11 at 75 points; the Stars have 83 points at 38-20-7.

Nino Niederreiter, RW, Minnesota Wild: The Wild posted a 6-3 victory over the Avalanche yesterday at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul.
Niederreiter put up two goals and an assist, while Jason Pominville had a score and two helpers.
Minnesota scored three times in the first period and three times in the third.
The Wild have a 29-25-10 with 68 points; the Avs also have 68 points at 32-29-4.
