The Avalanche look to continue their push for a wild card spot as they welcome the Pacific leading Ducks to town on Wednesday night.
The Ducks head into Denver looking to distance themselves from the pack in the Pacific division as they currently hold down a one point lead over the LA Kings and a three point buffer on the San Jose Sharks in what is surely going to be an exciting race down the stretch. Anaheim has really turned it on since their disappointing start and look like a serious Cup contender but they will need to find a way to be more consistent on the road if they’re going to compete in the playoffs with the likes of the Kings and Blackhawks. John Gibson is expected to get the nod in the Anaheim crease and the Calder Trophy favourite is having a special rookie season as he has ceased the starting job for himself.

The Avs meanwhile head into Wednesday looking to pull ahead of the Minnesota Wild for the final playoff spot in the West with a victory against the Anaheim Ducks in what should be a very tightly contested show down. Colorado has had trouble keeping the puck out of their net this season as they are a minus-12 in goal differential and have conceded 195 markers in 68 games which puts them in disappointing company in the Western Conference. However, their offense has been rolling and in a game against a tough Ducks side they will need to have their top end guys step up and generate some scoring chances. Unfortunately, Anaheim is too deep and too strong in their own end and I think that makes the difference.
