We’ve got an absolutely huge NHL slate in store for us today, and the action gets started early this afternoon. While we’re waiting, let’s take our daily look at the headlines and key players out there.
Carl Hagelin, LW, Pittsburgh Penguins: the Penguins edged out the Blue Jackets last night at Nationwide Arena by a score of 3-2. Hagelin had a goal here, as did Kris Letang and Chris Kunitz.
On the other side, Gregory Campbell scored his third of the year and also assisted on Cam Atkinson’s goal (24).
The Pens move to 78 points on the season at 35-24-8. The Jackets are 28-32-8 with 64 points.

Brayden Schenn, C, Philadelphia Flyers: Last night at Amalie Arena in Tampa, the Flyers overcame the Lighting 3-1.
Schenn bagged a goal here (his 23rd of the year), while Steve Mason had 18 saves on 19 shots.
With the victory, the Flyers are now 32-23-11 with 75 points. The Lightning are 39-24-5 with 83 points thus far.
Vladimir Tarasenko, RW, St. Louis Blues: The Blues bagged a solid victory over the Ducks last night, scoring four times in the third period en route to a 5-2 result at Scottrade Center.
Tarasenko scored twice and had an assist here, while Jake Allen stopped 26 shots overall. Tarasenko’s goals were his 31st and 32nd of the year.
The Blues move to 40-20-9 on the season with 89 points. The Ducks have 83 points with a 37-21-9 record.
Jason Spezza, C, Dallas Stars: Down at American Airlines Center in Dallas, the Stars put up a 5-2 win over the defending champion Blackhawks.
Spezza had a goal and an assist here. It was his 26th goal o the year and came on a power play in the first.
The Stars are now 41-20-8 with 90 points; the Blackhawks have 88 points at 41-22-6.
