The Blues look to take over top spot in the Central division as they head into Calgary to battle the disappointing Flames.
The St Louis Blues sit tied atop the Central division standings and hold on to the best record in the Western Conference but they can distance themselves from the Dallas Stars with a favourable matchup on Monday night against the lowly Calgary Flames. The Blues have quietly gone about their business this season and often get overlooked when discussing teams to watch out for in these playoffs, but they are as dangerous as anybody and if they can get home ice in the first round and host a potential deciding game seven you’d have to think they’d be considered a Cup favourite. The Blues are 20-9-5 on the road this season and will likely turn to Jake Allen in this spot as he will face off against a struggling Joni Ortio who hasn’t been able to muster much in terms of consistency in the Calgary crease.

The Flames have been decent at home this season but thanks to their dreadful road mark they sit tied with the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference basement and are in the running for a top end draft pick. Calgary made it to the Pacific division final last year against the Anaheim Ducks but have really fallen off this season as they haven’t gotten the same level of consistency this season as they had a year ago and their youngsters haven’t been as impactful as anticipated after a special campaign last year. Calgary is playing out the string the rest of the year and matchups like this one against a red hot Blues team competing for a division crown is a terrible one. St. Louis cruises.
