We have an absolutely huge day of NHL action ahead of us, and the games get started early this afternoon. In the meantime, let’s visit with a few of the key players out there in the headlines right now.
Frederik Andersen, G, Anaheim Ducks: Over at Honda Center, last night’s late game featured the Bruins and the Ducks. Anaheim took the 4-0 shutout victory here, with Andersen stopping all 38 shots that came his way.
Rickard Rakell scored his 19th goal of the season here, and Jamie McGinn got No. 18.
The Ducks are now 39-22-9 with 87 points; the Bruins have 86 at 39-25-8.

Cam Talbot, G, Edmonton Oilers: In another nice goalie performance, Talbot also got a shutout at Rexall Place in Edmonton. He posted 40 saves against the visiting Canucks in a 2-0 victory.
Scoring here were Jordan Eberle and Matt Hendricks. It was Eberle’s 22nd and Hendricks’ fourth this year.
The Oilers are 29-38-7 with 65 points; the Canucks have 66 points at 27-31-12.
Scott Darling, G, Chicago Blackhawks: While we’re checking out goalies, we can’t leave out Darling, who also managed a shutout at MTS Centre in Winnipeg last night.
He put up 28 saves in the 4-0 win, which stopped a season-high four-game slide for the Blackhawks. Patrick Kane scored his 39th goal in the second period.
Chicago is now 42-24-6 with 90 points; the Jets have 63 at 29-37-5.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, C, Washington Capitals: The Caps put up an impressive performance last night at Verizon Center against the visiting Predators. Kuznetsov logged three assists in the 4-1 victory, while Daniel Winnik scored his fifth and sixth goals.
T.J. Oshie put up his 22nd goal of the year, while Filip Forsberg got his 29th in the loss.
The Caps are now at 107 points with a 51-14-5 record; the Preds have 85 at 36-23-13.
