After a huge day of NHL hockey yesterday, we’ve got seven more matchups to look forward to today as we round out the weekend. That said, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in our daily wrap-up.
Nick Bonino, C, Pittsburgh Penguins: Bonino bagged a pair of assists yesterday afternoon at Wells Fargo Center, helping the Pens beat their intrastate rival Flyers 4-1.
Pittsburgh scored three times in the second period in this one to help secure the victory. They also outshot Philly 35-17.
Chris Kunitz got his 15th goal of the year here, while Kris Letang got his 14th.
The Penguins are now 39-24-8 with 86 points; the Flyers have 80 points at 34-24-12.

Brian Elliott, G, St. Louis Blues: Over at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, the Blues put up a nice road win.
Elliott had saves on all 19 shots in the 3-0 shutout win, while St. Louis outshot Vancouver 50-19.
Also of note, Vladimir Tarasenko got his 34th goal in this one during the third period.
The Blues are now 42--22-9 with 93 points; the Canucks have 66 points at 27-32-12.
William Nylander, RW, Toronto Maple Leafs: Up at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, the Leafs scored three times in the final period to overtake Buffalo 4-1.
Nylander and Milan Michaelek each scored and had a goal in this one.
The Leafs are now 25-35-11 with 61 points; the Sabres have 68 points at 29-34-10.
Joel Ward, RW, San Jose Sharks: The Rangers’ rough west coast trip continued last night with a visit to SAP Center in San Jose. The Sharks didn’t have a whole lot of trouble here, outshooting New York 52-26 in the 4-1 win.
Ward made two goals here, and Tomas Hertl had three assists.
The Rangers are stuck on 88 points with a 40-24-8 record; the Sharks have 86 points at 40-25-6.
