The Flyers look to continue their push towards the playoffs as they head into Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers netted a huge victory on the road last night as they took down the New York Islanders by a 4-1 final at the Barclay’s Center and pulled to within a single point of the Detroit Red Wings for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Flyers are now 7-2-1 in their last 10 contests and have turned up the intensity since the all-star break and look like a team on a mission down the stretch and will be a team that many don’t want to face if they can get in. The Flyers have a ton of talent in the offensive zone and have been getting elevated play from their blue line which has all attributed to their growing success and if Steve Mason can put it all together in the crease than the Flyers could be really tough to slow down. Mason will likely get the call again in this one as he is expected to be countered by Sergein Bobrovsky.

The Blue Jackets meanwhile sit in second to last in the Eastern Conference and are just three points head of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the league’s worst record. Columbus was expected to be a dark horse contender in the Metro this season but have been underachieving since the puck dropped in October and will likely have a very long offseason filled with change if they end up landing the top overall draft pick. Columbus is a minus-35 in goal differential this season but they do have a winning record on home ice which is their only real thread to hang onto in this one as Philly has been better at home than on the road. In the end though, it comes down to matchups and Philly is the better team with more to lose and I think they get their second statement win in as many nights.
