The Rangers look to build on their 4-2 win over the Panthers in their last outing as they host the Boston Bruins at MSG on Wednesday night.
The Boston Bruins head into New York on Wednesday in an Original Six show down with the Rangers in a game that could have playoff implications as both team are fighting to secure their berth in the Eastern Conference. The B’s currently sit in third place in the log jammed Atlantic division and are just three points out of first and three points out of fourth in what has been a very exciting race between Lightning, Panthers, Bruins, and Red Wings. Boston has been very impressive on the road this season as they are 23-10-3 away from home but face off against a Rangers side that is 24-8-3 at MSG which should make for a great battle of contrasting styles in a very exciting contest. Tuukka Rask is expected to get the start in the Boston crease as he will face off against Henrik Lundqvist for the Rangers.

New York is battling tooth and nail with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders for positioning in the Metropolitan division with the Blue Shirts currently occupying the second seed and possessing home ice in the first round. New York is a modest 4-4-2 in their last 10 contests and haven’t been playing particularly well over that stretch but they are in the driver’s seat at the moment in terms of securing that second seed in the division which as their home record indicates, would give them a huge edge against either the Penguins or Islanders in the first round. As for tonight, both teams need the victory but with New York at home I think they have a bit of an edge and while Boston can’t be pushed aside and offer tremendous value I do think New York gets it done.
