The Red Wings continue their push towards a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference as they head into Toronto to face off against the Maple Leafs.
The Red Wings got a massive victory at home against the Minnesota Wild last night and will look to take their second in as many nights as they travel to Toronto to face off against the Maple Leafs. Detroit has made the playoffs in 24 straight consecutive seasons but run the risk of snapping their streak if they can’t fend off the Philadelphia Flyers, and while the teams sit tied in terms of points the Flyers have two games in hand and sit ahead of the Wings on a tiebreaker. Detroit looked very good last night and will likely send Petr Mrazek back to the crease as they desperately need another win against the lowly Maple Leafs.

Toronto meanwhile sits in the basement of the Eastern Conference and will finish off the rest of their regular season before taking to a very important off season that many in Leafs Nation are highly anticipating through the draft ad free agency. The Leafs are in the running for the top overall draft pick but have to compete with the Edmonton Oilers for that honour who currently hold the best chance of landing the top overall draft pick but as we saw last year it isn’t necessarily the league’s worst that lands the top draft pick. The Wings haven’t been great this season and have faltered down the stretch but they need to keep rolling to make the playoffs and against the Buds I think they do.
