The Flyers and Red Wings meet up in Detroit on Wednesday for a pivotal show down with huge playoff implcations at stake.
The Philadelphia Flyers head into the Joe on Wednesday to face off with the Wings as both teams currently occupy a playoff spot with 91 points but will need a victory here to help move closer to locking up a spot. The Flyers have been one of the league’s best teams since the all-star break and if they qualify they would have certainly earned their way in and while they are coming off an absolute thrashing at the hands of the Penguins they remain optimistic going into this one. The Flyers are 6-3-1 in their last 10 contests and will likely send Steve Mason to the crease as he will be countered by Jimmy Howard who is expected to get the call over Petr Mrazek.

The Red Wings currently occupy the final spot in the Atlantic division but are tied with the Bruins with 91 points, and despite having a game in hand the Wings know they need to win out to ensure they get in for the 25th straight season. Detroit has won back to back games and are 6-3-1 in their last 10 contests but they have been pretty inconsistent this season and don’t always seem to show up in the big games. However, they have been strong at home this season and with this being a virtual must win I think the Wings get it done in what should be a remarkable game to watch between two desperate teams.
