The Canucks and Oilers continue to play out the string as they face off in Edmonton on Wednesday night.
The Vancouver Canucks head into Rexall Place for the final time to take on an Oilers side that will be in a new building next year and they will look to send the Oilers out on a losing note. Vancouver heads into tonight’s game sitting in fourth to last in the Western Conference and will be in the running for the top overall draft pick in the offseason but they are coming off a nice win over the LA Kings in California and take on an Oilers side sitting in dead last in the West. The Canucks are actually a much better team on the road than at home this season and while that isn’t saying a whole lot considering their record it is still nice to see them show up away from home where teams usually sport a modest record. Ryan Miller is expected to get the call in the Vancouver crease as he will face off against Cam Talbot who has had a pretty solid second half to the season.

The Oilers continue to be a broken record as each new season begins with so much promise and with the narrative that this is the year they turn it around, but with only a few games remaining they are very much in the mix for yet another top draft pick. Edmonton does have a nice nucleus but they can’t seem to get on the same page and while some injuries derailed them a bit they desperately need to upgrade their blue line as they simply don’t have the talent at the back to compete in the Western Conference. However, Edmonton has been pretty good at home this season and will be fired up in this one as the days are numbered at their historic arena and I think they feed off the energy in this one
