The Ducks and Predators meet up in Anaheim on Friday night as the two Western Conference foes play their first game of the playoffs.
The Nashville Predators head into the Honda Center for game one of their Pacific division bracket show down as the top wild card team in the West but will have their work cut out for them against the division champions. The Preds made a mid season move to acquire Ryan Johansen from the Columbus Blue Jackets and while it cost them young defenseman Seth Jones it seemed to motivate the team as they went on a tear after the all-star break and move into a playoff spot. The Preds will need to find a way to generate some offense though as they take on the league’s stingiest defense and with Nashville being known as a defensive squad themselves it is safe to say that this series will feature a handful of low scoring affairs.

The Ducks started the season off very slowly and were considered the league’s biggest underachievers for a while but they stayed the course and are now the 2015-16 Pacific division champions and have home ice advantage in the first two rounds. Anaheim is loaded across the board and will be riding their rookie goaltender in John Gibson to kick things off as he showed last year he can play on the big stage and with his numbers this season putting into conversation for the Calder Trophy I think it is safe to say he has won the starting job. This should be a decent series and while I think Anaheim cruises in the end I think the first game will be very close and as such I expect goals to be hard to come by.
