Kicking off our weekend in 2016 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs action, we’ve got another interesting matchup looming tonight. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the headlines and see what’s happening out there right now.
Mike Fisher, C, Nashville Predators: This game was about as razor-close as it gets. The Predators emerged victorious over the Sharks at Bridgestone Arena last night, evening the series 2-2 with a triple-overtime 4-3 victory.
Fisher scored two goals here, while net-minder Pekka Rinne tallied 44 saves.
The scoring started out pretty fast, with Colin Wilson and Mike Fisher book-ending a Brent Burns goal in the first. Joonas Donskoi evened things up in the second before Brent Burns (power play) and James Neal traded goals in the third.
Fisher’s score--his fourth of the playoffs--came at the 11:12 mark in the third overtime. It was assisted by Wilson and Mattias Ekholm.
This was the longest game in Predators franchise history, and the longest for the Sharks since 2008.

Cody Eakin, C, Dallas Stars: Speaking of overtime, the Stars and Blues took an extra period to decide their game four last night at Scottrade Center.
Eakin got to play the hero, as he scored the game-winner in the OT. It was his first goal of these playoffs and tied the series at 2-2.
The Blues jumped out to an early lead in the first, when Vladimir Tarasenko bagged his sixth goal of the postseason. Radek Faksa and Patrick Sharp (power play) scored in the second, giving Dallas a brief 2-1 lead before Paul Stastny scored (power play) to even things up.
Eakin’s goal came at 2:58, with assists by Patrick Sharp and Jamie Benn. This was a nice bounce-back after an embarrassing 6-1 loss in Game 3. Game 5 comes tomorrow in Dallas, and it’s a whole new series.
